A Knowledge-Based System as a Sustainable Software Application for the Supervision and Intelligent Control of an Alcoholic Fermentation Process

2020

One goal of specialists in food processing is to increase production efficiency in accordance with sustainability by optimising the consumption of raw food materials, water, and energy. One way to achieve this purpose is to develop new methods for process monitoring and control. In the winemaking industry, there is a lack of procedures regarding the common work based on knowledge acquisition and intelligent control. In the present article, we developed and tested a knowledge-based system for the alcoholic fermentation process of white winemaking while considering the main phases: the latent phase, exponential growth phase, and decay phase. The automatic control of the white wine&rsquo

Density Flow in Dynamical Networks via Mean-Field Games

2016

Current distributed routing control algorithms for dynamic networks model networks using the time evolution of density at network edges, while the routing control algorithm ensures edge density to converge to a Wardrop equilibrium, which was characterized by an equal traffic density on all used paths. We rearrange the density model to recast the problem within the framework of mean-field games. In doing that, we illustrate an extended state-space solution approach and we study the stochastic case where the density evolution is driven by a Brownian motion. Further, we investigate the case where the density evolution is perturbed by a bounded adversarial disturbance. For both the stochastic a…

Semantically enriched informed environment for multi-agent simulation : application to simulation in 3D virtual environment

2014

This thesis focuses on multi-agent simulation applied to the simulation of individuals in virtual 3D buildings. To do this, our work suggests to capitalize on the experience gained in the field of semantic web ontologies and inference engines to facilitate the design and development of intelligent behavior for agents operating in virtual worlds. The goal is to provide to agents a generic approach to managing their representation of the world and reason about this representation. For this, the central problem is based on the definition of a decidable ontology modeling all of the knowledge contained in the virtual 3D environment to enrich semantically the environment of a multi-agent simulati…

Examining Sources of Farmers’ Knowledge as a Premise Behind Realization of the Smart Village Conception. A Case Study of Opole Region

2019

The aim of the study is to point to the need of doing research on the system of agricultural knowledge and information as a premise behind realization of the conception of smart village in the territorial framework. Accepting the assumption that intelligent agriculture lies at the foundation of transformation of rural areas, the author indicates the role of the system of agricultural knowledge and information in the process of modernization of agricultural holdings. In the article, questionnaire-based survey research was used in relation to the sustainable development of agriculture in Opole Region. In order to assess the level of adaptation of agricultural holdings to economy based on know…

Neural Classification of HEP Experimental Data

2009

High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments require discrimination of a few interesting events among a huge number of background events generated during an experiment. Hierarchical triggering hardware architectures are needed to perform this tasks in real-time. In this paper three neural network models are studied as possible candidate for such systems. A modified Multi-Layer Perception (MLP) architecture and a E alpha Net architecture are compared against a traditional MLP Test error below 25% is archived by all architectures in two different simulation strategies. E alpha Net performance are 1 to 2% better on test error with respect to the other two architectures using the smaller network topol…

Medical news aggregation and ranking of taking into account the user needs

2019

The purpose of this work is to develop an intelligent information system that is designed for aggregation and ranking of news taking into account the needs of the user. The online market for mass media and the needs of readers, the purpose of their searches and moments is not enough to find the news is analyzed. A conceptual model of the information aggression system and ranking of news that would enable presentation of the work of the future intellectual information system, to show its structure is constructed. The methods and means for implementation of the intellectual information system are selected. An online resource for aggregation and ranking of news, news feeds and flexible setting…

3D Integration : towards high-performance innovative imaging sensors

2017

Nowadays, CMOS image sensors are almost exclusively architectured around analog pixels. A transition to purely digital pixels would significantly improve the performances of imagers. Unfortunately, such an approach is difficult to consider because it causes an oversized and unusable pixel for the consumer market. One of the promising ways to solve this problem of pixel integration is to think not only in 2D dimensions, but in 3D dimensions by distributing the different functionalities on several interconnected wafers. Thus, the work presented in this manuscript describes the design of a purely digital image sensor in CMOS 3D-IC 130 nm Tezzaron technology. This sensor is architectured around …

Conception et synthèse de nouvelles sondes fluorogéniques à coeur Bodipy pour la détection

2020

Therefore this project is aimed at the development of novel improved multi-analyte fluorogenic probes for heavy metals ions and bioanalytes within the framework “AND” fluorescent molecular logic gates concept. The biothiols and cations of Cd(II), Pb(II), Cr(III) and Cu(II) heavy metals will be selected as the targeted analytes. To the best of our knowledge, no “AND” molecular logic gates using metal ions besides Zn(II), Hg(II), Ca(II) inputs, likewise no multi-analyte probes for biothiols along with heavy metal cations, has been described in the literature. While the development of a highly sensitive and selective recognition of thiols and metal cations has emerged as a significant interest…

Ethics in designing intelligent systems

2019

The idea of Hume’s guillotine contains the argument that one cannot derive values from facts. As intelligent systems operate with facts, Hume’s famous dilemma seems to contradict the very idea of being able to create ethical intelligent systems. In a closer look, ethics is a system of rules guiding actions. Actions always have factual or cognitive aspects, as well as evaluative or emotional aspects. Therefore, Hume’s juxtaposition of facts and norms is not well-founded. Instead of separating the facts and norms it should rather ask what kinds of facts are associated to what kinds of norms. Consequently, Hume’s guillotine sets no limits in processing ethical information, as one can combine f…
